So I purchased a set of these for myself and I wanted to share a few quick thoughts.
First, they’re really impractical. No matter which set you get, the numbers are just hard to read. For me, the Menoth are among the better ones, but then you have the Cryx set, which I’ll just hope no one actually uses.
Second, they’re pricey. I’m ok with the cost, but they could just as easily have been cheaper, especially by saving the cost of the boxes they come in. The package can hold at least three sets of these dice.
That said, they feel good. Weighty but not heavy, they just felt good to toss around.
Have you guys bought your set, yet? What do you think about them?

More Trollbloods and a Testament in a new scheme I’m testing for Menoth.

NMM Gold

I’ve had a couple of questions on this, so I’m posting my recipe for Madrak’s gold here:

I started with a base of Mud Brown (Vallejo Model Air). It’s not a dark brown, more of a caramel color.

Then I add pretty harsh (and sloppy if you’re going for this cartoony look) highlights with Lazur Yellow (Vallejo Model Air). It’s very creamy and light. Such a pretty color, lol.

Wash with Agrax Earthshade (Citadel wash).

Lastly, I add the extreme highlights with Lazur Yellow again, which will now seem brighter because we washed down the previous coat.

I’m sure there are other ways of doing it (especially if you’re trying for a more realistic look) but I’m pretty pleased with this. I was asked once how I got it to shine, so I hope that means I got close :)

Thanks for reading!
